Financial markets connect buyers and sellers around the world, enabling currencies, shares, commodities and other financial instruments to change hands every day.

For someone new to trading, terms such as forex, indices, pips, shares, commodities, margin and volatility can initially feel complicated.

The fundamentals, however, are much simpler.
